About

Tracey Lamb acknowledges and pays respect to the traditional owners of the unseeded lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation where she lives.

Tracey Lamb’s abstract sculptural work is inspired by 20th century architecture and interior design. Her work reveals its essence, structure and significance by distilling the colours, patterns and geometry. Tracey isolates architectural forms from their function to investigate the narrative properties of architectural motifs that shape our urban environment. Her playful and joyful aesthetic and materiality is both sleek and vibrant, bold and delicate, audacious and subtle, counteracting the historical feminine and masculine dichotomy.

Welder and monumental sculptor, Tracey dynamically embodies feminist principles through her chosen medium and artistic concepts. Exploring practices of erased and marginalised female artists and architects, Tracey challenges historical power structures to draw attention to creative women in 20th century history who continue to have their story misrepresented or overshadowed by their more famous male colleagues.

Tracey is a member of ShrewD Collective, a group of five ShrewD female artists who are Tracey Lamb, Chris Fontana, Amanda Laming, Nina Sanadze and Mimmalisa Trifiló. We assemble, weave, weld, paint, sculpt, draw, and write, maintaining our autonomous artistic styles, and then bring these together to form something entirely unique and supportive as. ShewD Collective.

Tracey runs the social media platform This is not a man-date -  https://www.instagram.com/thisis_nota_mandate/ where she generously and tirelessly sources all posts to promote the art and creative practices of contemporary female and non-binary artists..
